Making a fluffy, buttery loaf has never been so simple.
There’s nothing that smells better than a loaf of freshly baked bread. (Bath & Body Works even makes a sourdough-scented candle, proving the point.) Chasing that aroma, I’ve spent years perfecting my own no-knead Dutch oven bread. My favorite way to make it is by adding dried cranberries for a hint of sweetness—and it’s excellent for turkey sandwiches! But making that kind of bread takes a minimum of four hours, and sometimes I want something quicker.
There are many quick bread recipes out there, but they all contain ingredients that I don’t necessarily keep on hand. So when I stumbled across a viral two-ingredient bread recipe, I was skeptical, but intrigued enough to try it out.
What is the two-ingredient bread?
This loaf of bread is made with just two things: Pillsbury crescent roll dough and melted butter. So, OK, it’s really more of a bread hack than anything else, considering that it uses premade dough. But I’m not picky—I love crescent rolls.
Versions of this bread have been going viral on social media, and it’s gotten so popular that even Pillsbury posted the recipe on its website.
It’s incredibly straightforward and very easy. Simply buy a two-pack of Pillsbury crescent roll dough, pop the metal tubes open, and lay the doughs next to each other in a loaf pan. Then brush the top with melted butter, and bake the bread until it’s golden brown. Let the loaf sit for 10 minutes, then slice it and enjoy.
