500g (1 lb) ground beef

6-8 strips of bacon, diced

The Vegetables:

3-4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cubedDairy & Eggs

1 medium yellow onion, diced

1 stalk celery, chopped

The Base:

4 cups beef or vegetable brothBeef

2 cups whole milk or half-and-half

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for thickening)

2 tablespoons butter

Salt and lots of freshly cracked black pepper to taste
